What’s The Difference Between Cushion Pad And Premier Pad?

What’s The Difference Between Cushion Pad And Premier Pad?

Our Cushion Pad and Premier Pad Commercial Underlay products are very similar. Both feature a heavy commercial rating and are constructed from recycled textile fabrics. They’re also both environmentally friendly and offer a significant upgrade when compared against traditional hairfelt products of the past. Measurement wise, both Premier Pad and Cushion Pad come in at 25m by 1.83m, but their thicknesses are not aligned (more on this later).

The key difference, however, is that Premier Pad is designed to provide a luxurious upgrade for those looking to make their commercial space a bit more comfortable. In practice, this means that although the two products are very similar, they also have the below differences:

Sound Reduction

While Cushion Pad provides adequate reduction of sound transmission within a space (achieving a W.S.I. noise level of 31dB), Premier Pad further enhances the benefits on this front with a W.S.I. noise rating of just 29dB. A reduction of 2dB may not seem like a big deal, but when we consider the impact that noise pollution has on both the productivity and health of individuals working in a space, every point counts.

Thickness

As a general rule, thickness is directly tied to plushness when it comes to underlay, so Premier Pad’s 14.5mm thickness makes it a significant upgrade on Cushion Pad’s 9mm. While both will get the job done, Cushion Pad is better suited to environments such as pubs and clubs, while Premier Pad feels more at home in boardrooms and high end establishments.

Weight And Density

In addition to being thicker, Premier Pad (1550gsm) is also heavier and denser than Cushion Pad (1050gsm) further enhancing the plushness underfoot of our premium option.

R Rating

When looking to enhance the energy efficiency of your space, Premier Pad is definitely the way to go. With an r rating of 0.4 (as opposed to Cushion Pad’s 0.26), Premier Pad helps keep temperatures stable in your business environment.

Note: Underlay is not insulation and should never be used as such. It is, however, a solid support for the insulation installed within your space.

Suitable Installation Environments

As touched on above, Premier Pad and Cushion Pad are also designed to be installed in different spaces. While both options will easily withstand life in a heavy commercial environment, Premier Pad is designed for installation in commercial spaces that require higher end finishes and a more luxurious feel. Essentially anywhere that needs an underlay that gets the job done reliably can confidently install Cushion Pad, but those who want their space to feel elevated should select Premier Pad.

Price

Finally, as you probably already expected, Premier Pad costs a bit more than Cushion Pad. We keep pricing as fair as possible, but we’re sure you can see why our premium option comes with a higher price tag. Those looking for an economical underlay for heavy commercial spaces will find that Cushion Pad suits quite well, while those needing a more luxurious finish can easily justify Premier Pad.
